Today is October 17, 2008.
From today, there are 75 days left until 2009. Ziggy Marley was born on October 17. Tennessee Ford died on October 17. This date is the International Day of the Eradication of Poverty. On this day in 1979, Mother Theresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and in 2007, the Dalai Lama received the United States Congressional Gold Medal.

It seems like a normal Friday at the theatre. The phone is ringing off the hook, fellow employees clicking away at their keyboards, and downstairs, the box office buzzing with orders. But today doesn’t have to be dubbed as that normal. You know today will never happen again. Nothing will exist quite like it did today, quite like it does right now. Makes this regular Friday seem a little more special, doesn’t it?
Why am I dwelling on such a subject? Seems a little melodramatic? Well maybe it is, but something has triggered the thought recently of how fleeting all of this can really be. One moment you are used to one life and all those people in it, then the next could be totally different. With reasoning like that, it should teach you that every day is precious. Even the October 17’s have weight.
So today is special. I got to wake up in my beautiful apartment shrouded by the branches of a family of oaks. My cat filled my usual morning silence with a melodic meow-ful. The K-Girls made another Babble TV appearance with Tracey Dot Com. I saw the smiling face of all my lovely coworkers and later on I will get to see Tony Bennett perform live on our stage. But anywho, take it all in. Don’t let the little things pass you by.
Oh and by the way, you still have time to come down here and catch this amazing concert—it will change your October 17 forever too.
