10. My light-up flashing Bacardi devil horns
I tend to keep holiday things around past the time that they should be out. Note the flashing light-up Bacardi devil horns that were for 364 days prior to now hidden behind my monitor along with my dozen less one dead good luck roses. Those horns are now on my head spreading the spooky goodness throughout the office. It is nice to finally put them to use again.
9. My very sweet looking silver sparkly ghost decoration on my office door.
So referencing the prior entry, I am not the only one who tends to not clean house after a holiday. On my door is last year’s ghost ornament keeping my doorknob cozy, but before you judge, take a look at my coworker’s door. Matching sparkly pumpkins and witch heads hang just as they did one year ago today. I guess you could say we are conservative with our decorative efforts.
8. Reusing old dance costumes that would otherwise collect dust in my closet.
Thank goodness for the nearly twenty years of dance I have under my belt. That equals a good stash of old dance costumes that make for perfect Halloween back-ups. So this year my angel costume is a conglomeration of ballet costumes and extra glitter.
7. The opportunity to wear ridiculously long fake eyelashes.
Look, when you have short, dinky eyelashes like I naturally do, you will take any opportunity to wear some pretty long fake ones. And tonight I will be doing just that.
6. The Corey Smith concert tonight at the Florida Theatre. Sorry sold out!
Love, love, love me some Corey Smith. Although, I do have to forget the fact that he is a Georgia boy and will have a horde of Georgia fans in the audience tonight. But besides that one little fact, he is an amazing artist that will put on an incredible show.
5. FOOTBALL
All I have to say for this one is GOOOOO GATORS!
4. The best dress-up weekend ever.
Starting off with Halloween, this holiday allows for craziest extremes in outer attire. Obviously. But then cap it off with a Florida Gator-Georgia Bulldog game with everyone sporting their loyalty in the form of t-shirts, beanies, face paint and a lot of wacky accessories; this is one hell of a weekend.
3. One serious round of people-watching.
Now come on. Anyone who has ever been to any sort of sporting event will vouch for this one. The best and worst in people come out during sporting events, so with this being Florida-Georgia, we are in for quite a show.
2. A really good “seasonal” excuse to talk endlessly about Twilight. Vampires and werewolves!
So I just really threw this one in there, because I don’t need an excuse to talk endlessly about Twilight. I do that pretty much on a daily basis anyway. And I’m definitely not alone on that one, thank you very much.
1. Taking it all in with my favorite people.
There’s really nothing better than doing fun things with the people you love. So this weekend I get to spend with not only my work family but with one of my very best friends, Brittany. I do not even know who all I will run into throughout the weekend, considering the magnitude of the downtown festivities, but I’m sure I will see many familiar faces. But when you think about it, that’s what it is really all about. Watching crazy football fans let go of reality, drinking the cold away, dressing up like ridiculous ethereal beings and getting lost in the crowds just wouldn’t be as fun all alone. So Happy Halloween. Go Gators. And the family that plays together stays together. To all a safe weekend.
