The month of June has been quite a whirlwind for me as well as a lot of firsts. For the first time I was a bridesmaid, visited our nation’s capital and tomorrow will be traveling out of the country (for the first time) to Bermuda.
I was blessed to be a part of my roommate/best friend/sorority sister's wedding on June 1st. She and her hubby were the lucky winners of Jacksonville Magazine's Great Wedding Giveaway. Basically a $40,000 wedding/reception/honeymoon package- awesome! Everything was beautiful and of course very special. OH! And I caught the bouquet, which was a first as well, watch out boys! You can look for ME, and the gorgeous bride and groom, in Jacksonville Magazine's Bride edition in August.
With very little recovery time from the wedding festivities, I was on a plane to Washington D.C. to attend the National American Advertising Federation Conference. As incoming president for AAF Jacksonville, this opportunity was something I was really looking forward to. I had my share of educational programs, great networking and of course a lot of fun. Although I didn't get to go out and really experience what D.C. has to offer, I did however get to participate in one of the most memorable runs of my life. Along with 55,000 other people, I ran the Global Race for the Cure 5K at the National Mall. Not having ran in over 2 months, I was a little nervous, but really how can you pass up the chance to run by the Washington Monument and the Capital Building! The energy was incredible and the cause, obviously inspiring. Many special guests stopped by, including Joe and Jill Biden, Layla Hathaway and Nancy Brinkman- the founder of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. A day I will never soon forget.
Next up- Bermuda! I'm sure I'll have stories when I return:)
