Commemorative gift opportunities available through the Florida Theatre Capital Campaign offer friends, foundations and corporations numerous ways to provide memorials and testimonials to family, friends, organizations or other individuals.

Each commemorative gift provides a naming opportunity for the donor according to his or her wishes, and appropriate recognition will be given. Methods of making commemorative gifts include outright gifts of cash, gifts of securities, gifts of real property, gifts of life insurance, planned gifts which can take many forms, and gifts through a will.

A Florida Theatre representative will be happy to work with anyone desiring to make a commemorative gift and explore the options through which that gift may be given. For details on these and other named and memorial gift opportunities, see the Guide to Giving or contact the Director of Development at the Florida Theatre at (904) 355-5661.

NAMED GIFT OPPORTUNITIES

$2,500,000     Florida Theatre Stage
Recognition by a prominent plaque in the Theatre’s public area and in all performance information in perpetuity (e.g., “live on the Mr. and Mrs. Contributor Stage at the historic Florida Theatre).

$1,000,000

Florida Theatre Marquee

Recognized by a prominent plaque on the Theatre exterior.
$500,000 Endowment of the Prudential Lobby
The Theatre’s entry lobby was named in 1983 to recognize a generous gift from Prudential Insurance to the Restoration Campaign.  A major gift to permanently endow the space will provide funds in perpetuity for preservation, maintenance and improvements.   A second prominent plaque adjacent to the original will recognize the donor’s commitment.  (e.g., This space permanently endowed in March 2001 through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Donor.)
Endowment of the Seaboard Railroad System Promenade Lobby
The Theatre’s elegant promenade lobby was named in 1983 to recognize a generous gift from Seaboard Railroad System to the Restoration Campaign.  A major gift to the Theatre’s capital campaign to permanently endow the space will provide funds in perpetuity for preservation, maintenance and improvements.   A second prominent plaque adjacent to the original will recognize the donor.  (e.g., this space permanently endowed in January, 2001 through the generosity of The XYZ Corporation.)
  Theatre Loge
Considered by most patrons as the best in the house, the Theatre’s loge section includes 168 gold-upholstered seats affording perfect, unobstructed sight lines to the stage and superb acoustics.  A permanent plaque will recognize the donor.
$350,000 Backstage Areas
The Theatre’s backstage areas, though generally unseen by audiences, are the heart of the Theatre’s operation.  A major gift will help to ensure that production capabilities are continually expanded to meet the changing needs of artists and that technical equipment is periodically upgraded to keep pace with advancing theater technology.  A permanent plaque in one of the Theatre’s public areas will recognize the donor.
$250,000 Endowment of the Independent Life Mezzanine Lobby
The Theatre’s beautiful mezzanine lobby was named in 1983 to recognize a generous gift from Independent Life to the Restoration Campaign.  A major gift to the Theatre’s new capital campaign will permanently endow the space, providing funds in perpetuity for preservation, maintenance and improvements.   A second prominent plaque adjacent to the original will recognize the donor.  (e.g., this space permanently endowed in October, 2000 through the generosity of The Patron Family.)
$200,000 Endowment of the Barnett Reception Room
The former nursery on the Theatre lobby’s third floor was converted to a private reception and meeting room in 1983 and named to recognize Barnett Bank as a donor to the Restoration Campaign.  A significant gift at this time will endow the space, providing funds for ongoing preservation, maintenance and improvements.   A plaque adjacent to the original will recognize the donor.  (e.g., This room was permanently endowed in July, 2001 through the generosity of Benefactor Companies, Inc.)
$150,000 Endowment of the Prudential Box Office Lobby
The public lobby of the Theatre’s ticket office - often the busiest space of the entire facility - was named in 1983 to recognize a gift from the South Central Arts Committee of Prudential Insurance.  A major gift now will permanently endow the space, assuring that funds for preservation, maintenance and improvements are available.   A plaque adjacent to the original will recognize the gift.  (e.g., this lobby permanently endowed in December, 2000 by a gift from The Donor Company.)
  Florida Theatre Ticket Office
The interior of the Florida Theatre’s Ticket Office is the economic engine that drives the Florida Theatre’s operations year-round.  Each year several hundred thousand tickets – not just to Florida Theatre performances, but also to entertainment and sports events throughout the city and state – pass through our ticket windows.  A major gift will endow the ticket office and assure that the Theatre is able to keep pace with advancements in ticketing technology.  A naming plaque in the lobby area will recognize the donor.
$100,000 (2) Refreshment Bars
The Florida Theatre’s two refreshment bars, located in the entry and the mezzanine lobbies, are more than a convenience to audience members.  They are also an important source of earned revenues for the Theatre.  Naming plaques adjacent to both will recognize the two major gifts.
$75,000 Facilities for Patrons with Disabilities
The Florida Theatre maintains a separate accessible entrance, restroom facilities and special seating locations for patrons with disabilities.  A naming plaque adjacent to the accessible entrance will recognize this gift in support of the Theatre’s ongoing effort to accommodate patrons with disabilities.
$50,000 Catering Facilities
Limited catering support facilities, used for both artist hospitality and patron receptions, are located on the third floor of the Theatre lobby.  A naming gift will help to maintain and equip the facilities.  A plaque adjacent to the kitchen entrance will recognize the donor.
  Volunteer Usher Lounge
The Florida Theatre’s volunteer usher corps is at the heart of the Theatre’s success and an essential part of staffing the 200 events held annually.  A small private lounge for the convenience of these dedicated volunteers is maintained just off the mezzanine lobby.  A naming plaque adjacent to the entrance will recognize the gift.
  Volunteer Usher Recognition Program
Each year, the Florida Theatre honors one of its volunteers with the “Usher of the Year” award, presented to the individual whose “exceptional dedication, commitment and loyalty best exemplify the ideals and spirit of volunteer service.”  A gift to endow the usher program will earn the donor naming rights for the annual award as well as recognition on a plaque acknowledging the service of all ushers participating for five or more years.
$50,000 (5) Artist Dressing Rooms
Five separate dressing rooms are provided backstage for the use of visiting artists and tour support personnel.  It is not uncommon that major stars receive their only impressions of our community from their dressing rooms and the Theatre stage before moving on to the next city.  Gifts to endow each dressing room will ensure that they are appropriately furnished and maintained.  A naming plaque adjacent to the stage entrance will acknowledge the donors.
$25,000 Lobby Furnishings
Furnishings throughout the lobby areas and in the third floor reception/meeting room will be renovated and/or replaced, and the donor will receive appropriate recognition on a plaque to be displayed in one of the Theatre’s public areas.
$25,000 (4) Auditorium Chandeliers
The four ornate chandeliers that dominate the Florida Theatre’s main auditorium are works of art in themselves.  The intricate stained glass work dating from 1927 could probably not be duplicated at any cost today.  Four naming gifts will ensure the continued preservation of these community treasures.  Donors will be acknowledged on a plaque or plaques within the auditorium.
