The Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition presented by Yamaha is recognized as one of the premier jazz piano competitions in the nation. This celebrated event will take place on Thursday, May 21nd at the iconic Florida Theatre, where five of the country’s most exceptional up-and-coming jazz pianists, selected by a blind panel of esteemed judges, will compete for a substantial cash prize and the coveted opportunity to perform at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival. This fierce competition has become an integral part of the festival and a favorite among many eager to witness some of the most incredible rising talents in the jazz world. Past judges have included jazz legends such as Marcus Roberts, Brian Culbertson, Jason Miles, Joey Calderazzo, Lynne Arriale, Dr. John, Per Danielsson, John Thomas, and other well-known jazz musicians.

Parking
The Yates Building Garage is the preferred parking facility of the Florida Theatre. The Yates garage is visible across the Forsyth and Newnan Streets intersection from the Florida Theatre, but the garage entrance is behind the building at 200 East Adams Street. (Drive past the theatre on your right, across Newnan Street, past the Yates Building on your left, make a left on North Market Street and a left on Adams Street.) The Yates Garage is well lighted, staffed, and is monitored by security cameras.
