The Theatreworks program provides the best national and international professional touring children’s theatre to the school-age children and summer campers of the First Coast region. Founded in 1979, Theatreworks was an independent organization until it merged with the Florida Theatre in 2019.

While reporting live, The Story Ship’s science reporter, Sarah, is kidnapped by aliens and trapped on a spaceship bound for the outer regions of our solar system! Audience volunteers must quickly form a Rescue Team and use magic, dance, and music to get her back. The audience helps to unravel a celestial musical message. This show is highly interactive, with audience participation every minute to two minutes, with kids helping with magic tricks, singing, dancing, and navigating the rescue rocket through an interactive game.

Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL (K-8)

Become a guest at the Dickens’ home as Charles Dickens and his sister, Fan, act out their own “Amateur Theatrical” version of Scrooge’s story. The 2 actors use only their imaginations & items from the drawing room to perform 15 characters from the classic story.

While Paleontologist Diggery Diggers is showing his dinosaur fossils to a live audience, he discovers a “top secret” box the museum accidentally packed. Curious, Diggery opens the box and unleashes the DinoSauroScope 3000 or DINA taking the audience back into time to interact with dinosaurs. All is well until they use DINA on a large dinosaur egg. The egg hatches and a terrible thing happens. The dinosaurs in museums around the world start to come alive!

“Super Me” is a fast-paced theatrical adventure that combines high-energy hip-hop dance, intense video gaming, astounding magic, interactive animation, and a live actor. Audience members are taken on a virtual journey into a comic book world to help a young boy escape from bullies. The audience must help the animated boy overcome obstacles and solve puzzles using superpowers onstage. Kids not only see real-life examples of bullying but are given clear, step-by-step actions to help stop bullying.

This show combines all of our favorite things – board gaming, racing, music, magic and animation! The board game and animation parts of the show are projected on to a large screen. The audience is divided into two teams. The teams are in a race to get to the treasure. Each team will have to complete on stage challenges that include solving math problems, solving puzzles, helping with magic tricks and team comedy challenges all held on stage with a live Pirate.

H.G. Wells 1895 Science Fiction novel travels to the stage in this “Steampunk” rock musical. You’ll meet a Magic Mirror with a messy cold, a Dirty Rat with some pretty shady friends, a Troll that has traffic backed up for hours, a narcoleptic Sheriff that can’t stay awake long enough to figure anything out, Five Little Piggies with some really big problems, and a Dragon that loves bacon! The show combines hilarious puppets, beautiful animation, spellbinding magic, wonderful music with tremendous audience interaction.
